My name is Julieta Rodriguez, I am 26 years old and I am from Cordoba Argentina. I graduated as a Biologist at the National University of Cordoba in 2020. In April 2021, I joined the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development (Instituto Nacional de Investigacion y Desarrollo Pesquero) with a FONCyT grant to do a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences. There, I am a member of the Zooplankton Cabinet where I evaluate how both biological and environmental factors, including contamination by microplastics, affect the nutritional condition of Argentine hake larvae, Merluccius hubbsi. In March 2022 I had the opportunity to embark as a scientific observer on board a Norwegian sailing vessel called Statsraad Lehmkuhl. There I was able to collaborate with the sampling and supervise the scientific tasks that were carried out. During this year, I was also able to present my first results after the analysis of 10 years of research campaigns at the Jornadas de Ciencias del Mar, held in Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina.

On the 12th of August 2022, my adventure begins thanks to NF-POGO where I will receive training on board the RV Dana from the 15th of August until the 2nd of September, where I will collaborate with scientific tasks such as taking biological and environmental samples. On the 12th of September, I will travel to Bergen, Norway where, thanks to a grant from NANSEN, I will work with Tanja Kogel at the Institute of Marine Research. There I will learn about techniques for the analysis of microplastics in small organisms.
